The Current Team:: Rom Hacker: ROM Hacker: Main Translator: Editor / Shining Godess Beta Testers: The identity and number of beta testers will remain undisclosed until after the patch is released. This is to prevent others from badgering the beta testers to give them the patch before it's ready.
Once the patch is released, they will be listed in the credits as beta testers. Currently Working On: 〇 Assembly Hack 〇 Image Extraction/Translating 〇 Translating Editing Translations Beta Testing Patch Release Legend: ◎ Complete 〇 In Progress Not Started Yet Announcements: I feel ready to 'show' this translation project, it's been on the way for a long time but never got the time to do it, now I think is a good time, why?
Dunno really. There's more to tell but let's just say it's the announcement, and I'll explain more stuff on the Q&A sections Shining Force Feather Trailers (Japanese): Translated Screenshots: Sorry I don't have actual gameplay for now since I still have to do the Variable-width font code but you can see the FMV subtitle code (Big thanks to Kingcom for his help on that one) Q&A: Q: Why are you using the same topic as project? Keygen. A: Because I asked Densetsu before. Q: Why this game never got any real translation?
A: Because of the fact that most of people who claims to 'hack' are merely using tools to get things done and Shining Force Feather requires more than that. I must say that 90% of the files are all customs. Also, if you know what an NFTR font is, you should know that SFF does NOT have one, and so you have to do some assembly programming into the game's code to modify this ugly font. StorMyu (myself) is working on that part for the moment, and also adding ASCII instead of Shift-Jis for space issue (because there is and that's a huge problem) And that's why even if the translation is on the way, there's no screenshots available. Q: Will this be a full translation? A: Absolutely.
Q: Can I help translate or edit? A: Actually yes, but I'll prepare a test to check if you're good enough for the job.
Q: Can I be a beta-tester? A: Once the translations have been finished, we will be looking for people who are serious about contributing to the project, not people who 'just want to try the patch.'

As such, the beta test will be invite-only and we will ask a handful of well-known, reputable members who are willing to test it for us. Those who beta-test will be credited in the project. When the beta-testing phase is opened, we will provide the testers with information about proper bug report format (we will require beta-testers to submit screenshots with the reports). Q: When will you release a patch?
A: After beta-testing is completed. Q: Is there any way you can speed up the project?
A: Sorry Densetsu I just love most of your answers so I just re-used them if you don't mind ^^ Legal Stuff: Shining Force Feather™ is owned by Sega. If you like this localization patch, we would appreciate it if you purchase the game to support the software developers./spoiler. Click to expand.Oh geez, no pressure, right? I'm the Omega Entity listed in the translation slot up there - I figured that it'd be good to make an account here if this going to be the forum that StorMyu is using as a home base. I will warn everyone right now - I am not a fast translator.
I'm also starting a full time job in the middle of the month. I will, however, really push myself to make time to get this done.
It's a game I've been looking forward to playing myself, so there's that much more motivation. I do, however, possess a knack for making translations sound like actual English, and not a bunch of words slapped together that, while they get the idea across, sound like they were ran through a couple of online translation programs. I do everything by hand, with lots of dictionaries.
I want to do this right. I originally bought my first DS flash cart because I heard the system had Mega Drive emulators and wanted to play Shining Force without using the awful remake for GBA. Sadly, I was never satisfied with the emulator, so my DS flash cart didn't see a lot of use, and still doesn't right now for that matter. This news makes me hopeful I might finally be able to experience a Shining Force game soon enough.
Even if it won't have Zylo. Anyway, I'll wish you good luck and I hope this project doesn't give you too much trouble.
